The launch of Doer V2 marks an exciting milestone for us. But the journey to get here was shaped by listening to users along the way.
Doer V1 provided a testing ground to experiment and identify how to create the best experience. User input guided our evolution every step, leading to major upgrades in V2.
Let’s explore some key insights that informed Doer’s transformation:
Early users struggled to easily find the type of professional they needed. Doer V1 relied solely on keywords and categories felt limiting.
“I didn’t know exactly what terms to search for my cleaning job. Some type of house services category would help.”
In V2, we overhauled discovery via intuitive browsing of services needed – home, events, auto, delivery and more. Users can visually explore providers tailored to any job.
Both clients and pros felt uncertainty dealing with strangers. How could each side trust the other to deliver on promises?
“As a client I’m nervous to just pay upfront. I wish there was some way funds could be held to ensure work quality.”
Doer V2 introduces escrow payments along with AI contracts, reviews and chat features that foster confidence and accountability on both sides.
V1’s UI had room for improvement in simplifying interactions. Users wanted faster browsing, communication, and payments.
“I’d like to message potential pros from their profile instead of having to exchange numbers separately.”
We invested heavily in UX for V2 by consolidating messaging, profiles and reviews into a seamless mobile experience. Every task now takes fewer taps.
In V1, Doer focused heavily on the client experience. But providers, especially SMBs, wanted more capabilities to grow their services.
“As a company, I’d love to have a profile page to showcase our business offerings and credentials.”
Doer V2 introduces a suite of premium tools for pros. Businesses can manage a microsite, contact clients directly via the app, and access an AI business coach for personalized advice.
While Doer V1 provided a promising start, it was by listening to users that we were able to leap forward with V2. Their candid feedback was a gift, allowing us to evolve Doer into the platform it is today. And we’re just getting started building the future of digital work in Africa.
